29 January 2012 White Rose MX - Winter Champs Round 4 - Fat Cats, Doncaster Small Wheel 85cc Class Race 1 - 11th best lap 2m 17s Race 2 - 14th best lap 2m 23s Race 3 - 14th best lap 2m 31s

It was nice to get back to racing after the Winter break, but it was really cold today, I could hardly feel my hands they were so cold! There was a big entry with some pretty fast riders, but I made it hard for myself by getting bad starts in the first 2 races. In the 3rd race I picked an inside start gate and got a much better start. I was in the top 5 round the first few corners, but then one of the leaders crashed over the first jump and caused a pile-up right in front of me. I didn't crash, but my bike was blocked in and I couldn't get round the pile-up until they had all got up. By the time I set off I was right at the back. I made up quite a few places, but ran out of time as the race was shortened to 3 laps because it was getting so dark.

26 February 2012 90 Racing MX Championship Round 1 Preston Docks, Lancashire Small Wheel 85cc Class Race 1 - 7th best lap 1m 59s Race 2 - 8th best lap 2m 6s Race 3 - 7th best lap 2m 6s Overall - 6th

My first time at Preston Docks, I really liked the track, but hated the first corner off the start. It was a steep uphill off-camber 180 degree turn and there was a pile-up in nearly every race! My starts let me down again today. I was riding OK, just need to sort my head out a bit before the big races start!!

18 March 2012 90 Racing MX Championship Round 2 Finningley, South Yorkshire Small Wheel 85cc Class Race 1 - 9th best lap 2.25m s Race 2 - 10th best lap 2m 10s Overall - 9th

When we arrived on Saturday afternoon the track was really dry, but it rained all night and by Sunday morning it was a total mud bath. Most of the riders wouldn't even race in these conditions and went home! I crashed about 3 times in the practice session and my day didn't get much better after that. Roll on Summer...!

6 May 2012 90 Racing MX Championship Round 3 Mildenhall, Suffolf Small Wheel 85cc Class Race 1 - 12th best lap 2m 3s Race 2 - 11th best lap 2m 4s Race 3 - 8th best lap 2m 2s Overall - 11th

Another track I was riding for the first time, I was at a bit of a disadvantage as most of the other riders had practiced there the day before the race, but we couldn't get there in time. The track and the facilities were really good, but it took me a while to get my speed on the track. It was very smooth and fast for the first 2 races, but I went much better when it roughed up for the 3rd moto and everyone started falling off !

12-13 May 2012 Red Bull Pro Nationals Elite Youth Cup MCF British Championship Round 1 Landrake, Cornwall Elite Small Wheel 85cc Class Timed Qualifying - 28th best lap 2m 29.3s Race 1 - 26th best lap 2m 29.9s Race 2 - 31st best lap 2m 32.9s Race 3 - 28th best lap 2m 35.6s Race 4 - 27th best lap 2m 37.1s Race 5 - 25h best lap 2m 42.7s Overall - 29th Championship position - 29th

It was great to be back at the Red Bull nationals, but this had been my worst track of the championship last year as I didn't get any top 30 points scoring results. Things went a bit better this year and it was nice to have the extra power of the 85 to pull me up the big hills. I didn't get very good starts most of the weekend and it was quite difficult to pass as the track got very rutted with only one main racing line.

I got a much better start for the final race on Sunday when I swapped over to the right of the start gate to give me an inside line into the first corner. After a couple of laps I was in about 18th position when disaster struck. I banged my left foot going round a corner after a steep drop-off and injured my ankle. I didn't fall off and kept riding as fast as I could, but the pain was unbearable and I had to take my foot off the foot peg whenever I could. After the race I couldn't walk and the paramedics had to patch me up and tape an ice pack to my foot. The 8 hour journey back home was really painful, but I had to get back for my School SATS exams the next morning!

Early Monday morning my Dad took me to the hospital for an X-ray. Nothing was broken, but the ligaments were badly sprained. I was fitted with some crutches then rushed into school for my exams.

Injury update 24/5/12 - I had to miss the 90MX championship round at Finningley the week after Landrake and I still need crutches to walk. I can't put any weight on the ankle. I've been having some sports injury therapy from Body Basics Fitness which is helping to reduce the swelling and get some movement back. Hopefully I'll be able to ride the 2nd round of the Red Bulls at FatCats in 9 days time, I just need to heal... very quickly!

2-3 June 2012 Red Bull Pro Nationals Elite Youth Cup MCF British Championship Round 2 Fatcats, Doncaster Elite Small Wheel 85cc Class Timed Qualifying - 40th best lap 2m 13.5s

I still couldn't walk without crutches, but I could stand on the bike in the garage, so we packed everything up and headed to Round 2 of the Pro Nationals. Dad strapped & taped my ankle and we squeezed it into the boot. I tried my hardest in qualifying, but ended up riding my slowest ever laps round Fatcats. I was in agony whenever I hit a bump or a jump so we decided to pull out of the the event. Still had a good weekend though, Tom Hume had a broken arm, so we joined the pit crew for Vampires Rock KTM and cheered Will Keogh & Scooter Webster on to great results.

We're heading off to USA in a couple of weeks including a trip to the AMA Nationals at Budds Creek, so I'm gonna take some time off the bike and let my injury heal.

7-8 July 2012 Red Bull Pro Nationals Elite Youth Cup MCF British Championship Round 3 Canada Heights, Kent Elite Small Wheel 85cc Class Timed Qualifying - 38th best lap 2m 52.7s Race 1 - 32nd best lap 2m 53.2s Race 2 - 36th best lap 2m 59.8s Race 3 - 34th best lap 3m 17.1s Race 4 & 5 - Sunday cancelled due to weather

I wasn't really ready for this event, I only had an hours practice on the bike since returning from holiday. My ankle is a lot better, but my fitness has gone and my confidence on the bike is non-existent! I'm just going to have to tough it out for the next few months and hope everything gets back on track. A long way to travel for no championship points.

21-22 July 2012 Red Bull Pro Nationals Elite Youth Cup MCF British Championship Round 4 Duns, Scotland Elite Small Wheel 85cc Class Timed Qualifying - 25th best lap 3m 19.5s Race 1 - 24th best lap 3m 16.2s Race 2 - 23rd best lap 3m 20.7s Race 3 - 22nd best lap 3m 17.2s Race 4 - 23rd best lap 3m 12.3s Race 5 - 24th best lap 3m 30.4s Overall - 24th

Things are going a bit better, enjoyed the track despite the huge deep ruts. Just need to find more speed and agression, but it's coming...

4-5 August 2012 Red Bull Pro Nationals Elite Youth Cup MCF British Championship Round 3 Canada Heights, Kent Elite Small Wheel 85cc Class Timed Qualifying - 26th best lap 3m 2s Race 1 - 24th best lap 3m 3.2s Race 2 - 25th best lap 3m 4.4s Race 3 - 25th best lap 3m 4.3s Race 4 - Race stopped due to track conditions Race 5 - 25th best lap 2m 44s (shortened track) Overall - 26th

They moved Round 5 from Whitby back to Canada Heights because they'd had to cancel the last event there on the Sunday due to heavy rain wrecking the track. This time the weather started off OK, but there was a freak thunder storm right before our 1st race on the Sunday, I decided not to do the sighting lap to keep everything clean & ready for the race, but after about 2 laps the race was stopped as the track was blocked with bikes that couldn't get up the big step up jump. Overall it wasn't a bad result, but I'm still struggling a bit racing at this level with the lack of practice I've had due to my injury. We've decided to pull out of this championship for the rest of the year and concentrate on local club racing for a while. If things go to plan we'll be back at the Red Bulls next year.

12 August 2012 White Rose MX Bielby, North Yorkshire Small Wheel 85cc Class Race 1 - 4th best lap 1m 46s Race 2 - 4th best lap 1m 48s Race 3 - 5th best lap 1m 55s Overall - 4th

Nice to be back racing with the White Rose Club, very friendly, relaxed & great fun. Just what racing should be like!

26 August 2012 White Rose MX Dalton, North Yorkshire Small Wheel 85cc Class Race 1 - 2nd best lap 1m 50s Race 2 - 3rd best lap 1m 50s Race 3 - 4th best lap 1m 51s Overall - 3rd

Not a bad day...

7 October 2012 White Rose MX Fat Cat Moto Park, South Yorkshire Small Wheel 85cc Class Race 1 - 9th best lap 1m 54s Race 2 - 8th best lap 1m 57s Race 3 - 8th best lap 1m 59s Overall - 8th

A bit disappointed with this result. We'd done a lot of practicing in the deep sand here over recent weeks, but there'd been some heavy rain the day before the race which made the sand really solid with much smaller, sharper bumps. Nothing like it is normally and we struggled to get the suspension and tyre set-up right.

21 October 2012 White Rose MX - 2012 Winter Championship Rd.1 Dalton, North Yorkshire Small Wheel 85cc Class Race 1 - 4th best lap 2m 1s Race 2 - 3rd best lap 1m 52s Race 3 - 3rd best lap 1m 54s Overall - 2nd

Today started off as a mudbath, but the track dried out nicely. The start straight was a deep bog all day though, so I played it safe on the starts, maybe too safe, as I came round the first corner near the back of every race! It was great fun making my way towards the front though, I was riding well and made some good passes.

11 November 2012 White Rose MX - 2012 Winter Championship Rd.2 Grangemoor, West Yorkshire Small Wheel 85cc Class Race 1 - 6th best lap 2m 7s Race 2 - 5th best lap 2m 3s Race 3 - 3rd best lap 2m 7s Overall - 5th

We didn't arrive at the track until 11:30pm on Saturday night, all the dry parking spaces were taken so we spent the night with the motorhome stuck in an axle deep mud hole! The track was really muddy early on Sunday, but it dried out nicely after practice and was really nice to ride.

The fist corner was really tough as there were only 2 lines you could take, either really tight inside or really wide. I went for the inside, but was caught in a pile-up when the leader crashed. I eventually set off near the back, I charged through the pack pretty well, just a bit slow in making some of my passes. 2nd race I played it safe and went for an outside start. this worked better, but I was very disappointed how a rode in this race, for some reason I just didn't have any fight in me. I had several pep talks with my crew and all the insults and name-calling had me fired up for the last race!!! Decent start, plenty of battling, much better, much happier!!
